Animations were done using Jasc Animation Shop 3.05 available for a free 30 day trial at
http://www.jasc.com/products/animationshop/.
There are approximately seven animations in all: two on the
home page and one on each of the summer reading sites.
Images were manipulated using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 (which I own) and Paint Shop Pro 8,
which was also downloaded for a 30 day free trial period from
Jasc: http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro/.
There are about 38 images used in the site inclusive of the
animations. Most of the images are book jackets taken
from a variety of book seller sites including amazon.com and
barnesandnoble.com. Other images were mined from various
web sites such as official publisher sites. The library
images were mined from a google image search.
Sound was used on the home
page and the main Harry
Potter page. The opening sound was taken from an MS PowerPoint
slideshow. The song for Harry Potter is the intellectual
property of WB
and was downloaded from MuggleNet.
Warning regarding that this is an
imaginary library site was prominently placed on all pages.
A cascading style sheet was used
creating a special class for the font and designating color
format for links.
The links are spread about the web site
and included where appropriate, but I created a links page
specifically for the professor at links.
All pages are properly and adequately
titled.
The required elements (my full name, date modified, copyright, statement that the website
was produced in partial fulfillment of the requirements of LIS 7008, SLIS / LSU, and imaginary libraries
clearly identified) are all included on the index page.
A Site Map is included as a separate HTML page with a complete list of all files,
identified by both filename and title, use of appropriate file names which reflect systematic organization,
initial page is index.htm, indication of software used
(Notepad), the site map page has a colored background, link for
professor notes from Site Map page.
No directories were created to organize
the html pages, but it was necessary to create directories for
the images to keep the site somewhat organized.
Otherwise there would be nearly 100 files in one folder.
A form was used for collecting feedback
using JavaScript verification.
Meta tags were included in the header with web site information.
Nested tables were used in the site design with distinct areas commented clearly in the source code.
