About Us

Welcome to the Cascade Public Library.  Our mission is to provide the community with materials and services to meet its informational, educational, and personal interest needs.  We encourage the community to use its facilities and resources for reference, study, reading, browsing, and group meetings.  Our collection includes fiction and non-fiction books, audio books on cassette and CD, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, music, computers for Internet access and word processing, and historical resources to assist you with your genealogical needs.  Special emphasis is placed on supporting students at all academic levels and on stimulating young children's interest in and appreciation for reading and learning.  The Cascade Public Library serves as an educational and recreational resource for all residents of Cascade.

Some of the services your library provides are the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library and Mobile Services.  As of 2004, we circulate over 2 million adult books, 1.3 million children's books, and over 1.5 million other materials.  The staff consists of 481 full time employees.  In 2003, 1,578,456 reference questions were answered; 37,877 people attended adult and young adult events; and 87,258 people attended our highly successful children's programs.

Library card privileges allow for 2 items on the first visit, then once the first 2 items have been returned, checkouts are limited to a maximum of: 10 items per adult card, 14 items for two weeks for children or teacher card.  The use of online databases from anywhere with an Internet-connected computer are available to anyone in the community.  The meeting rooms are available for reservation by any group or organization.  City sponsored activities receive booking priority.  All events must be open to the general public and no admission may be charged.
